All about Krewes
Once upon a time in a land of Pirates, Maidens and rum
Four lovely ladies to Gasparilla did come
These four searched and found a great sight
And proceeded to Watch the beauty and fun of the night

Ray Ann, Joanne, Marcie and Christine by name
Found themselves in midst of the game
Glitter and sparkle mayhem and fun
There was so much to see before it was done

As the floats went past and their excitement rose
An idea was formed as beads gathered around their toes

A group of their own would be just the thing
For everyone to have an incredible fling

    Fabulous gals would get together
In friendship and fun, helping and caring
While costumes and jewels were made for the wearing

    A meeting was made
    It held but a few
    But word was out
    About the new Krewe

    Each meeting there were more
    The hard work had begun
    So many decisions
But the work was actually fun

    First a name,
Would it be GRITS or FLAPPERS?
    DIVAS or BELLES
Whatever it would be we needed a name that sells!

A name, one that would last
One to hold up but we picked one to fast

GRITS was the one we wanted but couldn’t hold
GLITS was the one we picked but that turned out too bold
None of us succumb to screeching or the vapors
We just went about renaming all the papers

Now the Krewe of Southern Sisterhood
    Was well and truly formed
A name to be Proud of and take Tampa Bay by storm

Each sister was special and worked from the heart
The committees and rules were off to a good start

Marcie, Joanne and Karrie spent many a long night
Writing and creating until dawns first light
They produced a format in which our rules could be stated
And once approved no longer debated

Nothing but nothing would deter their goal
    Not whining or complaining
Or Karrie giving birth to a new soul

A leader was needed and we did not have to search far
Rae Ann had been our creator and now was our shinning star
With a tinkle of her bell she called the sisters to order
She held us together better than with cement or mortar!

A theme was needed to set the standard for our group
Gracious ladies of the south, would it be a bustle or a hoop?

We appointed a Diva of costume and style
Allison accepted with a small gentle smile
    The Victorian look was victorious
Lace, pearls and hats would make us look glorious

We needed a time to gather and chat
    To meet new ladies
    And wear a great hat

Danielle and Lily came up with the key
They suggested we all create a tasteful tea
With finger sandwiches, magnolias and Earl Gray
Our guests would arrive and be treated the southern way

Gentle and kind, gracious in living
Our mission is one that we want to be giving
    Christine went and searched
She came up with our purpose
Women in need that could not safely surface

All of our sisters have worked very hard
Now we have new ones to add to the card
So now that alas the dirty work is done
Let us don our pearls and hats
And get on with the fun!
